Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break
through nor steal.
Matthews 6:19-20
O Lord, how many distractions there are in this world! How easy it is for us to get caught up in the desire to acquire, moving from one purchase to the next. How tempting to read one self-help book after another, until we are dizzy. Lord, I know that true contentment, true beauty, and true wisdom are all found only in your Word. Protect me from focusing too much on material things.
